Charlotte & Ed’s Story
Where it all started.
Their Story Began
Ed and Charlotte first met and became friends in junior high school in Jefferson City, MO. Though they would attend different colleges, and date other people, the two remained close friends. This friendship grew and they were married on June 10, 1967.
The First of 13 Moves
After a brief honeymoon, Ed & Charlotte headed for Kingsville, TX where Ed began his chemical engineering career with Celanese, and Charlotte as a teacher. Ed would remain with Celanese his entire career. Job promotions moved the Hackmans around the country and Canada 13 times. Charlotte transitioned from teaching to counseling, sales, acting, and writing. Ed’s last promotion brought the couple to Wilmington, NC where they have lived the past 23 years.
And the Family Grew
In October 1976, while living in Bay City, TX, Ed and Charlotte brought home their baby boy Michael “Colin” Hackman. Their little cowboy is now managing his own company and filling-in as a meteorologist for WECT. Colin married his wife, Michelle in 2007, and in 2010 they produced the best gift of all, a little granddaughter, Peyton.
