ABOUT THE CAUSE

Historic Wilmington Foundation

The Historic Wilmington Foundations was established in 1966 to preserve the architectural heritage of New Hanover County. The Foundation is a nonprofit organization that promotes historic preservation through educational programs such as the 3rd grade school tour Tar Heels Go Walking, our plaque program, community involvement and revolving fund activities.

The purpose of the 5K Run for Preservation is to generate community exposure for the Historic Wilmington Foundation and to increase their corporate and individual membership. Proceeds from the run will be used to achieve the Foundation’s mission to preserve and protect the irreplaceable historic resources in Wilmington and the Lower Cape Fear Region.
