The Blue Ribbon Run is an annual event that raises money and awareness for a cure for colorectal cancer, while helping families affected by this disease.

The Blue Ribbon Run is unique in its afternoon start time with a reception following at Dockside. Transportation is provided to and from the race site. The band Lunar Tide creates an atmosphere for celebration of life and hope to find a cure.

The t-shirt designs are a local favorite and blue hydrangeas are sold with all profits benefiting the goal of saving lives.

About the Cause

The Blue Ribbon Run is a nonprofit for the Julie M. Brown and Christina Gianoplus Colon Cancer Foundation, which has an endowment established at UNC Lineberger. Partnering with Wilmington Gastroenterology, our goal is to raise awareness for early detection and prevention of colon cancer. We are proud to have made an invaluable impact on this community and are grateful for the sponsors and participants who help us continue in our fight against colon cancer.

Race Swag

Shirts are guaranteed to participants who register by 11:59 PM on Saturday, March 14, 2020. The shirts are available in Adult Unisex S-XXL cut sizes, and are made of a cotton/polyester blend.

 The Blue Ribbon Run will be hosting a shirt pickup party once gatherings are permitted again.  We will update you once the event has been scheduled.

The Official Course: The course for the run begins at Autumn Hall and follows the beautiful City Trail through the Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach areas. Participants will start in the Autumn Hall housing community and the goes through trails and wooded areas following the City Trail.

This race course is also stroller & dog friendly!

Virtual Run 2020:  You can run or walk your race anywhere!  We remind you to avoid running in groups and be mindful of social distancing.

FAQ & GUIDELINES

Waiver: The Registration Agreement & Liability Waiver is linked to the Online Registration. This must be selected and approved during registration.

Packet Pick-Up: Family or Friends may pick-up your Race Packet at Packet Pick-Up.

On-Site Registration: Registration is available starting one hour prior to race start. It closes 20 minutes prior to start.

Timing: Jaguar Bib Chip Timing will be used to time this race

Weather: This race is rain or shine. It will be postponed, rescheduled or cancelled if a severe weather warning is in effect.

Refunds: There are no refunds, registration will be accepted as a donation.

Entries are not transferable to other races Timed by Go Time as each race is organized by a different group.
We must stick to this policy as race items have been purchased based on current registrations and it is not fair to choose who receives a refund and who does not.
